The people of Kaiama and Egbedi communities in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa state in their large numbers went agog as the Campaign for Development and Democracy in Bayelsa (CDDB) team held town hall meetings with them penultimate weekend.
The Executive Director of the NGO, Dr. Ekiyor Welson declared that the meeting is aimed at creating awareness and sensitization among the grassroots people not to allow politicians to enslave and impose candidates on them during elections and, rather asked them to imbibe the practice of participatory democracy in their places.
In addition, he told them to shun political money bags and vote credible people that would create jobs for the masses and would also take development to the grassroots.
Speaking, the community development committee chairman of Kaiama, Chief Gbeigbei Appah described CDDB as a new initiative that has the capacity to change the face of politics and development in Bayelsa state.
However he advised the leadership of CDDB to establish their presence in all the communities in the state as a way of creating awareness to the people.
In his remark. Mr. Kio Inoru who stood in for the Community Development chairman of Egbedi Tari Sudougha said the CDDB is a welcome development to the people of the community as the group championing the course against injustice and bad governance in the state.
Highpoint of the meeting was the commissioning of the CDDB offices in Kaiama and Egbedi communities respectively.
