Another Ebola-like new airborne disease called ‘Monkey-pox” has hit Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri, Bayelsa state.
The outbreak of the disease is first noticed at the teaching Hospital when it affected a medical doctor and three others as victims.
In spite of the fact the hospital authorities declined to confirm the new disease, a close source disclosed to our reporter that the monkey-pox disease is traced to monkey and may have originated from hunters in the area.
Staffers said that the symptoms of the disease are sweating, cough, weakness and rashes in the body.
Some staffers however assured the general public of quarantine facility in the hospital to prevent the spread of the disease just like as it was done in curtailing the spread of Ebola in the country.
All efforts to contact the state commissioner of health proved to no avail.
