The people of Anambra state have reelected the incumbent governor, Mr. Willie Obiano to pilot the affairs of the state for another four years.
Governor Obiano who emerged victorious with a landslide victory, released an acceptance speech from his village resident, Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, titled, "Time To Build A New World",
The statement reads in part, "this victory is not to myselve or to the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA but to Anamberians who believed in me".
Speaking to Journalists during the election, His Royal Highness, Rowland Odegbo in Ndeje kingdom, Oyi LGA said, the threat from Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) to boycott the election is a concussion of sick minds who does not want a governor in the state.
Rowland said, " issues of referendum is done constitutionally by representatives of the people, that is why IPOB call, for 'sit at home' did not work and should be discarded even after the election".
"Although the country has not been fair to Ndigbo, considering the lopsided appointments and the dilapidated roads in the east but what did they (Ndigbo) do? At the time, when we had the chief economic adviser to the president, Mr. Peter Obi, minister for finance Ngozi Iwola, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) Ayim Pius Ayim and so on, yet Enugu-Port Harcourt express way and Enugu-Onitsha express way remained an eyesore".
At the collation centre Awka, Mr. Habila Jashak, the Deputy Inspector General of Police operations, Force Head quarters, said, the peaceful disposition was well deserved and will be sustained by voters education, to turn the philosophy of Nigerians in using the ballot papers to choose their leaders.
He said the police will go back to the drawing board and improve in this success story to avoid post election violence with the use of patrol anchors and identifying of black spots, using the trade analysis.
Former national chairman of APGA, and the irector General of Willie Obiano Campaign Organization, Mr. Victor Ume said, the victory in all the 21 LGA's of the state was as a result of development stride through the governors policy of twenty million naira (#20.000.000.00) to every community in the state, which when judiciously just, gets another.
Also, was a former minister of information, Mr. Labaran Maku who attributed the peaceful outcome of the election to the trained capability of our security agencies noting that if the political leaders wants them to do well, they should give the right orders, as security personnel and agencies follow orders.
Mr. Labaran said, accreditation and voting at the same time is also a factor, as it disconjested the polling units, not to forget the announcing and pasting of the result sheets before taking it to the collation centres so that manipulations can no longer be possible knowing that, if you change any figure, it will be discovered.
"Labaran called for the scraping of the use of card reader which makes the election process more cumbersome without improving the integrity of the process".
“Voters register is now biometrics with finger prints and pictures already in the server with permanent voters’ cards that are electronically generated and can be used in banks, national and international circumstances".
"Card reader is not used in American, Europe and other places but wonder why it should be used here", he added.
