Bayelsa state governorship aspirant, Hon. Fred Agbedi says the major problem of Bayelsa state is poverty of the people.
He stated this in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital on Tuesday while addressing journalists of his plans to develop the state.
According to him, if the issue of poverty issue is properly addressed, all other issues like insecurity have become a thing of the past, adding that the people needs empowerment through a carefully planned economic blue print.
He pointed out that crude oil production as the mainstay of the economy has failed Bayelsa and the country at large over the years but the only way forward is for Bayelsa people to build refinery of their own to tackle the problems facing the state.
This could be achieved through the Bayelsa state oil and Gas Company to partners with other counterparts to create job opportunities for the people for good living.
He revealed that the management of Liquefied Natural Gas is optimistic to note that if additional three of these companies are built, the country shall no longer borrow money for its developmental projects.
Therefore if he becomes the governor of Bayelsa state, he is to ensure that more LNGs’ will be built to generate internally generated revenue for the state.
For him, Bayelsa state has enough professionals to test their strength and compete with others in the outside world to bring billions of naira to empower the people.
Hon. Agbedi opined that it is his burning desire to run the guber race because the state needs attention to do things differently this time around, stressing that that he has the knowledge, capacity, administrative knowhow in bringing the new approach and perspective for development in Bayelsa state.
