The President of Ohanze Ndigbo, Bayelsa state chapter, Chief Amaku Chinedu Maurice has commended Governor Henry Seriake Dickson for supporting the Igbo community in Bayelsa state.
He made this commendation during the 2019 Igbo Day celebration at the Ox-bow Lake Swali Yenagoa.
According to him, just few days to the occasion the governor graciously released to Ndigbo the money he promised them during the 2015 Igbo day celebration. He opined that the gesture shows the governor is concerned about the wellbeing and progress of Igbo community in Bayelsa State, adding that after the celebration Ndigbo will commerce work on the land purchased few years back to erect a befitting Hall for the Ndigbo to holding meetings and events.
He also assured that Governor Dickson will soon release the Administrative bus he promised along with the money already released.
The President thanked Baylesans for the love and understanding they have shown Ndigbo for the cordial relationship to enable them doing their businesses in the state without intimidation or harassment, promising to be law abiding and continue to contribute their quota to support the government to make Bayelsa better place.
To him, every September 29 is set aside to commemorate Igbo cultural heritage which they showcase to the whole world.
He recalled that Igbo Day celebration suffered little setback in the past two years because of internal disagreement.
The crisis, he noted, robbed off several benefits from them but thanked God that the problem era is now in the past and that is why they tagged this year’s celebration: “toward the wellbeing of Igbo people” (ODI MMA NDIGBO) to reconcile themselves any spill over grievance so that they can move forward as a people.
