If urgent step is not taken by the government to halt the looming crisis in Gbaraun Community in Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa state things might degenerate beyond expectation,
Already suspected assassins have attacked Morris Egbadiowei, chairman, Gbaraun Community Development Committee and his family in Swali town, Yenagoa LGA of Bayelsa state.
According to Morris Egbadiowei, ‘the reason for my attack is centered on my emergence as C.D.C chairman of my community which some people are not comfortable with. My refusal to accept individual perception for that of a collective decision has pitched me against some powerful individual’.
Continuing he said, ‘Barrister Efiyeseimokumo Bipelede and Ebikeseiye Ebipelede specifically threatened me that they would kill me if I don’t relinquish the chairmanship position to their candidate’ adding that the attack on him is coming four days after their open threat in the family meeting in Yenagoa.
He said, though they got a hint about the intending attack, I didn’t believe they could truly do it because the issue is more of an in-house matter.
“I was elected on January 1, 2016 and was sworn into office on January 4,2016. Those not satisfied with my emergence brought somebody else to challenge me after I have been inaugurated and sworn into office. It did not end there as they proceeded to file a criminal suit against me in the state high court. Though attempts were made to reconcile the disagreeing factions by Chief Walson Yenmu, the paramount ruler of Foropa , we could not arrive at a meaningful conclusion.
Stating further, the CDC chairman said that his family recognized one Pedro Oborodudu as the leader of the persons that attacked his home
