Tension in Bayelsa as Gunmen kill Journalist, Policeman, Civil Defense officer

There is palpable tension in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state as gunmen, suspected to be cultists and hired assassins have killed three persons within one week in the state capital.
Nobody knows how it all started but information reaching has it that a practicing journalist Mr. Famous Giobaro of the State Broadcasting Corporation, Glory FM who is popularly called “Famous on Radio” was shot dead by unknown gun men at the wee hours on Saturday morning.
It is gathered that some unidentified and scrupulous men were on the previous day went to the radio station to ask after him but they went away as he was not on seat. Then there is the rub. Some unidentified gun went to his house and shot him dead the following day. The deceased has been buried by his family.
We also learnt that a police sergeant was also killed by unidentified assassins at “Red Light” spot. It is said that the policeman was on surveillance patrol around the area but he went astray and was attacked by the criminals who lead to his death.
Similarly, another attack was carried out by gunmen who invaded the residence of former chairman of Odi Local Government Area, Hon. Tari Bolou and now a commissioner in BSIEC. Luckily, he escaped as they don’t reach him in his hideout but his security dog shot dead.
Same week, an officer of the Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps was also killed by unknown gunmen while they were on their checkpoint at Okaki. The criminals just emerged from nowhere and open fired on them which lead to his death, reports say.
The said prowling of gunmen in Yenagoa did not stop there within the week. Another attack was also carried out at the Bayelsa Gateway Road guarded by soldiers and other security outfits but no dead was recorded.
It could be recalled residents in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa state has never witnessed the high level of incessant violent attacks by gunmen within a week.
Meanwhile, many residents are now learning from these attacks as they sleep with eye closed and another open.
The state commissioner of police, Mr. Amba Asuquo while exchanging views with newsmen in his office stated that he sometimes personally patrol the city to minimize crime, adding that he knew all the ring leaders of criminal gangs and he would invite them for a roundtable confab with the intention to sensitize them.
