Bayelsa state commissioner of Information and Orientation Hon. Jonathan Obuebite has debunked rumors that the Federal Ministry of Finance has released the 2nd tranche of the Paris/London Loan Refunds to the state.
He stressed that the information is false, adding that mischief makers are just out to misinform the public in order to discredit the government of Bayelsa state.
The information boss disclosed that there consultants put in place to work out the modalities and he further probes whether other state governments have received the refunds by the federal government from the Paris/London Club.
But reports have gone viral in the social media that vice president Osibajo has approved the release of the Paris/London Loan Refund to all the 36 states of the federation to pay the backlog of unpaid salary arrears the various states in the country owed to civil servants.
In the report, Bayelsa state got a bumper harvest of $329, 744,322.49 for the 2nd tranche loan refunds by the federal government.
It is on record that hundreds of thousands of Bayelsa state civil servants cannot meet up their domestic responsibility to their family as a result of unpaid salary by the state government.
This has resulted to so many strike actions by the civil servants particularly at the state local government councils including teachers.
It is recalled Bayelsa state got N14.5bn from the Paris/London Loan Refunds by the Federal Government in December 2016.
