A nongovernmental organization, Campaign for Development and Democracy (CDDB) has given kudos to Bayelsans for indicating interest to join the search for a credible governorship candidate towards the 2019 general elections in Bayelsa state.
The organization said that in spite of the current economic meltdown by failed politicians, they still showed solidarity and hope for the group’s message and philosophy.
The Executive Secretary of the organization, Dr. Ekiyor Welson stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen in Yenagoa.
He would want Bayelsa youths not to fall for the antics of politicians who want to hoodwink them to believe that they love them but rather they should reject their overture to use them, adding that the time for deceit and slavery is gone.
Dr. Welson however has condemned the recent meeting of more than 300 NGO’s in the state by Governor Dickson and gave N2,000 each, adding that the failed political class could still attempt to buy the peoples’ support after 18 years of leadership.
“We make bold to declare that with the massive support of students, workers, churches, pensioners, traders and all sectors of Bayelsa public, our resolve to produce leaders that are from the masses, to the masses and by the remain unshakable and we shall work sweat, toil day and to give Bayelsans leaders that will favour them”’ he said.
The group called on Bayelsans to keep hope alive, pray and continue to spread the message of a new Bayelsa that would favour the masses from 2019 even as they avail themselves of the opportunity to register.
