By Our Correspondent
Kidnappers of a Chief of Undeware in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state has slashed the ransom from N20million to N2million, family sources have confirmed to our correspondent in Yenagoa.
It would be recalled that the victim Jacob Felix was whisked away to an unknown destination Sunday morning by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Akenfa suburb of Yenagoa.
Confirming the development to our correspondent, the Bayelsa state police command spokesperson DSP Asinim Butwat said the police is on the trail of the abductors, stressing that investigation is ongoing to arrest the culprits.
He however noted that he is not aware of the demand of the abductors, saying that the commissioner of police, Mr. Asuquo Amba has directed that no stone should left unturned to arrest the perpetrators.
Family sources hinted our correspondent that the kidnappers open dialogue with a victim’s sibling who is a police officer and demanded the sum of N20million on Monday, when he told them the family could not afford the amount they reduced the amount to N2million.
A kinsman of the kidnapped victim and Rights Activist Comrade Alagoa Morris described the act as barbaric and called on the law enforcement agencies to ensure that he is released unhurt, adding that Jacob Felix is a gentleman who meant no harm to any body and wondered why he is being treated badly by his abductors.
