A factor impeding the completion of the Bayelsa state 5-star Tower Hotel has been identified.
The Bayelsa state Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Barr. Lawrence Ewhudjakpo in his presentation at the state ministerial briefing in Yenagoa said the factor is hinged on lack of brand.

According to him, the initiators of the project have conceived the idea of the hospitality joint without business plan.

He said that government cannot spend billions of naira on a project in the absence of business managers to implement it.

To this end, government still shopping for renowned business managers to take over the international hotel, adding that once this done, the project would take off in a short time.

Also, the Glory Land Drive project cannot continue as the contractor handling the project ambushed the state government.

Barr. Ewhudjakpo explained that the previous administration awarded the contract at the sum of N19billion as a turnkey project.

According to him, the sum of N11billion was paid to the contractor before the restoration government came into power but the contractor wanted more money for the project.

On evaluation, government discovered that the contractor spent N4.5billion only for the work done so far and had asked him to go back to site but he declined
It is on this note that government revoked the contract but the contractor restrained the government through court injunction, adding that it is when the matter is decided by the court, the project will start again.
