By Amgbare EkaunkumoNiger Delta University Alumni Association, Bayelsa State chapter has given awards to six of their members who have carried out exceptional humanitarian services which have brought good will to the State chapter.
Those awarded includes, Esene Matthias Ehidiamhen, Comrade Ebipaepere Sikpi, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Barr.Douglas Dagogo Koko, Abarasi Abbey-Hart(PH.D) and George Alabh Turnah(MON).
Barr. Opuowei Daniel Zitimiyola, National president, Niger Delta University Alumni Association,who made the disclosure while reading his address in this year’s Dinner/Award night presentation in yenagoa, said that the event is important because it is bringing members of the alma-mater for far reaching linkage and new insights.
He said, as essential stakeholders in the Niger Delta University advancement project, the Alumni has made a modest intervention in the development of Infrastructural facilities in the school, by donating one million naira for the provision of classroom furnitures, adding that these are besides the water and other projects executed by previous administrations.
Despite the aforementioned, Barr. Opuowei admitted that though the University has travelled far and wide but they are certainly not where they ought to be, because they are faced with challenges of inadequate classrooms, lecture theatres, faculty block, hostels, auditorium, internet connections, perimeter fencing and proper landscaping.
The National president used the opportunity to appeal to interventionist agencies and individuals to support the university.
