Miss Charity Queen 2017, Christabel Oyindoubra has
embarked upon her road walk pet project “Stop Girl Child Abuse, Slavery and Trafficking”
in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state Tuesday.
The road walk kicked-off from Tombia junction
along Melford Okilo Road and terminated at Steve Azaiki Library, Imbgi Road, Yenagoa.
Speaking, Miss Oyindoubra expressed her disgust
over the girl child sexually harassed, sold into slavery in the society by unscrupulous
elements.
As a Girl Child, she said she is bitter and thought
about it and have decided to campaign against the practice which has become so
rampant in the society.
According to her, sex abuse, girl child trafficking
and molestation are mostly caused by parents, drivers, friends, and teachers
which are painful to her.
Because the girl child is vulnerable, many of
them decided to migrate to the city to find green pastures thereby exposing themselves
to anti-social vices.
She had therefore advised girl child to unite
and defend their rights to excel in life in the society they live.
Miss Charity Queen 2018 also suggested that people
should report any case of child abuse to Federation of International Lawyers
(FIDA) who defends and protect Child abuse in case they cannot reach her.
She commended all those who turned out in their
large numbers for the road walk particularly security agents. FIDA representatives
and the President of Beauty of Africa International Pageant Mr. Daniel Opuene
for supporting her to make the event successful.
More details and photos later.
