Chief AlaibeFormer Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, MD Chief Timi Alaibe has expressed readiness by the next political dispensation to put Bayelsa state back to the hope and aspirations of the people.
He made this remark in Yenagoa while exchanging views with some senior journalists about the recent flood disaster in the state.
According him, the magnitude of the flood can the curbed if the original Bayelsa Master Plan is actualized which was carried out by Arch. Harcourt Aduke.
He described the topography of Bayelsa state as that of Malasia that is never over-runes by flood because the country has put in strategic measures to curtail it.
The ex-NDDC boss explained that there is need to re-invent the drainage system in Bayelsa state by dredging natural waterways with deep gutters surrounding the environment far below the sea level which would enable rain and flood water to drain into it.
Therefore, he said that the next political dispensation is ready and optimistic to ensure that the problem flood disaster is tackled appropriately, saying that flooding may likely to occur every five years from now.
Meanwhile, he urged the media to do the needful for the next political leadership to actualize the dream of the founding fathers of the state.
