Who wins APC Guber primaries in Bayelsa?

Even if the primary elections of All Progressive Congress, APC, is yet to hold in Bayelsa state following legal battle instituted at the Sagbama High Court sitting in Yenagoa, it is pertinent to ferret out who wins the primaries when it eventually holds few days ahead.

Two contenders are obviously come into the picture. One is the former Minister of State for Agriculture Hon. Heineken Lokpobiri and Mr. David Lyon, a philanthropis, oil and gas mogul, owner of Darlon Securities and Guards.

He has a workforce of over 5,000 people from all parts of the state with proper engagement and empowerment who is being described as quiet politician from Ologbobiri in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

The politician as reports have it, not much is known about his political career except the fact that he decamped to APC in 2014 after a face-off with Governor Dickson tutored oil surveillance committee set up the under the administration of Joshua Machiver in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

His entrance to the guber race is greeted with mixed reactions because his local government area is the largest in Bayelsa state. Reports say the local areas were thrown into wild jubilation with friendly gunshots along the creeks and water ways. It adds excitement and increase number of aspirants in APC.

The guber aspirant, it is gathered, has his short comings in the area of outspoken on major issues within the state and outside. The PDP and APC however expressed optimism over Lyon to emerge flag bearer and winning the governorship election.

Most people claimed that Lyon emergence and rising squabbles within the PDP may secure victory for the opposition.

He came into  the scene in Abuja after it dawn on loyalists of the newly appointed minister, Chief Timipre Sylva has dropped his idea to run for governor and left his structures for him to use.

Senator Lokpobiri was born on March 3, 1963. A Nigerian politician who was elected senator April 2007 under the platform of PDP for Bayelsa West senatorial District and Minister of state and Rural Development.. He was also a former Speaker of the Bayelsa state House of the Assembly.

He informed his party about intention to contest. He is a jovial man with beautiful heart and believed to set good example. He will not want the primaries to divide APC in Bayelsa state and also thinking about how APC will win the 2019 governorship elections.

When Chief Sylva is appointed as Minister, he congratulated him, describing the appointment as well deserved adding that, that was the type of development Bayelsa APC needed to wrest power from the ruling PDP in the state come November 16, 2019.

Now, the main issue why Sylva is against Senator Lokpobiri is zoning, that Governor Dickson from Bayelsa West have ruled for eight years. Why Lokpobiri who is from the same senatorial district wants to be governor again for another eight years?

But the Lokpobiri camp is sharp to point out that the same scenario has played out previously in Bayelsa. For instance, when Goodluck Jonathan was governor and moved to Abuja as Vice President, Sylva who is from Bayelsa East was made the governor.

Integrity, service and transparency count in politics in spite of the failure of Nigeria’s political leadership over the years.

The boys must be separated from the men in any contest. The APC has a problem per se. It is gathered that the party do not have authentic list of party members, sources say. You see the name of a party member appears in Southern Ijaw and the same name appear in Yenagoa local government area. This brings to the fore the type of primary the party is adopting to elect their governorship candidate. Whether it’s gonna be direct or indirect?
