Suspected criminal to face prosecution – Market PRO

The Swali Ultra-Modern Market authority is poised to prosecute a suspected criminal in court for allege burglary and stealing. Briefing newsmen, the PRO of the market Comrade Felix Okorie said the suspect was arrested March 4, 2019 in midnight red-handed and was handed over to police at Azikoro, Yenagoa for investigation. During interrogation by the police, the suspect confessed to the crime, saying that four big traders sponsored to steal in the market. But then the police failed to charge the case to court in spite of their outcry to them as the suspect was released of the interference by the said big time traders. The current chairman comrade Jackson Doubra decided to petition the AIG Zone 5, Benin but the file was swept under the carpet. Now, with the establishment of zone 16 the authority launches fresh petition against the suspect to seek justice, vowing to pursue the case to the letter. He advised law abiding traders to be peaceful and go about their business, adding that the market leadership is on top of the matter. However, the PRO has appealed to the state government to quit the roadside traders and direct to move inside the market as there are more than 600 vacant shops available. He is of the opinion that bringing inside the roadside traders can also generate revenue for the government
